With over twelve years of dedicated musicianship, his musical lineage runs deep—his grandfather was an accordionist, and his father’s steady rotation of Jazz provided an early, formative education. Those early influences now profoundly shape his current productions. Initially exploring hip-hop and electronic music, LéMz discovered the rich landscape of South African sounds—Afro Jazz, Afro-pop, Kwaito, Amapiano and Afro house.

After being 1 of 250+ applicants that were selected in 2024 for An Honest Conversation With Black Coffee, a conference, networking platform and mentorship program by Black Coffee himself, he has since transitioned fully into Afro house and Afro tech, viewing the genres as the most creative vehicle to honor South Africa’s musical heritage when it comes to the global market. Today, his work fuses Afro tech and house with jazz elements, aiming to create a fresh sonic experience that respects tradition while pushing creative boundaries.

More than a DJ and producer, LéMz prioritizes live performance. He incorporates live instrumentation—often featuring Rams De Violionist and KaMenzi on piano, saxophone, and electric guitar—to deliver a band-like, high-production experience. He is also learning piano to further elevate his sets.

His collaborations include respected industry names: Dr Thulz (producer for Prince Kaybee, Vusi Nova, Dj Zinhle and De Mthuda), Rams De Violionist (JazziDisciple’s Final Touch), King Monopoly(Idols SA top 4 songwriter), Umthakathi Kush (Imithandazo vocalist and songwriter), Hulumeni (Young Stunna’s songwriter), Sponch Makhekhe(Inkanuko vocalist), BosPianii(Kotota Piano hit-makers), TDK Macassette, Osaze(Black Motion award winning producer for Takala) and South African house legend DJ Ganyani.

Beyond music, LéMz co-created TeenFest in 2023 with mentor Thabiso Tshabalala—an alcohol-free event series for younger audiences. His dedicated team seeks to promote authentic, diverse music outside the mainstream, collaborating with existing systems while striving for innovation. To LéMz, his music is not merely a feeling but an experience—a universal language that connects, uplifts, and honors South African identity on a global stage.
